Degrees required or preferred: Missouri counseling certificate required; additional Missouri teaching certificate preferred
(A valid Missouri counseling certificate and complete transcript(s) of college credit must be on file for each counselor before the beginning of each new school year. It is the duty of each counselor to possess a valid certificate that covers the academic year (the teaching assignment/s and all other areas listed on the certificate). The counselor must assure that all professional development requirements and other DESE requirements are met to keep certification current.)

- Implement the Missouri Comprehensive School Counseling Program in the building
- Consult with and assist students, teachers, staff, and parents in increasing student achievement, and provide support to other educational programs
- Provide a comprehensive guidance and counseling program for students appropriate grade level
- Provide engaging activities to meet the needs of assigned caseload.
- Implement the building counseling curriculum
- Guide and counsel groups and individual students through the development of educational and career plans
- Counsel small groups and individual students with problems
- Consult with teachers, staff, administration and parents regarding meeting the developmental needs of students
- Refer students with severe problems to appropriate community agencies in consultation with their parents
- Coordinate, conduct and participate in activities which contribute to the effective operation of the school
- Participate in Crisis Counseling
- Evaluate and revise the building guidance program
- Pursue professional growth
- Other duties as assigned

An individual who holds this position must have the ability to: Speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously, move around the classroom, read handwritten or printed material. Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation and supervising recess, and lift objects up to 25 lbs.
Salary: Commensurate based on experience.
Contract Type: 10 months Certified + 20 days
