Performance Expectations:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must beable to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below arerepresentative of theknowledge, skills and abilities required. 1.       Meet age requirements:

          At least twenty-one (21)

          Under seventy (70).  A person may be allowed to drive a bus after July 1 following their

          seventieth birthday, but only if they can pass an annual medical and written examination.

2.       Obtain a Missouri Commercial Driver’s License,Class B or higher,and a

          Missouri school bus operator’s permit.

3.       Maintain good physical and mental health, free from communicable disease and have normal use

          of both arms,hands, legs,and feet.Vision shall be at least 20/20 in one eye with 20/40 vision in the other

          eye,or 20/30 vision in both eyes, with correction if necessary.  A driver shall be able to distinguish the colors

          red, green,and yellow. Hearing shall be adequate to hear ordinary conversation. A driver shall undergo

         a physical examination annually by a licensed physician and present a signed physical examination certificate

         to the employer.

4.      Report to work neat and clean.

5.      Abstain from the use of tobacco in the bus.

6.       Refrain from driving under the influence of intoxicants,narcotics, or drugs.

7.       Transport students in a safe and efficient manner.

8.       Operate school vehicles in a proper and prudent manner in accordance with state

          rules, regulations, Missouri Motor Vehicle Laws, School of the Osage rules, regulations and directives from

         the Director of Transportation, including “Driver Operation Procedures” found in the procedure section of

         the Board Policy Manual.

9.     Make daily routine checks of maintenance and emergency items such as brakes, lights,tires,oil,belts,fire

        extinguishers, first aid kit.

10.     Report maintenance problems as soon as detected.

11.     Turn in reports on time filled out completely with driver’s name attached

12.     Maintain clean and unobstructed interior and exterior conditionson his/her bus at all times.

13.     Maintain order and discipline while transporting students in accordance with established procedures, handling

         minor disciplinary problems, and reporting infractions which require intervention of the director.

14.     Be courteous to riders and parents.

15.     Be rested and free from fatigue.

16.     Be on time at scheduled stops.

17.     Attend at least one driver’s training program per year.

18.     Report any school bus accident as soon as possible.Drivers should remain with the bus throughout the

          investigation.

The individual who holds this position must: Sit for long periods of time. Occasionally walk and stand. Frequently bend and twist the torso and neck.  Frequently use repetitive arm, wrist and hand movements. Occasionally lift up to 75 pounds. Use close, distance and peripheral vision as well as depth perception

 

Compensation

Salary:                                                Commensurate based on experience.
