- Completed at least 60 credit hours of study at an institution of higher education; or
- Completed the Missouri Educator Gateway Assessment (MEGA) Paraprofessional; or
- Obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree.
- Work on the playground and be responsible for the children’s health, safety and happiness during morning, lunchtime and afternoon play sessions.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills (typing, Word).
- Paraprofessionals with a baccalaureate degree and an appropriate teaching certificate and/or training may initiate instruction and work independently.
- Assist in activities assigned by and under the direct control of the teacher.
- Promote good behavior and manners to ensure that the children are calm and happy.
- Instigate and play games with the children.
- Complete any paperwork relating to playtime incidents.
- Assist in escorting a group of children throughout the day to and from class and after school care.
- Maintain student schedules and keep students focused on assigned tasks for a specific duration.
- Assist in responsibility for procedures related to physical and medical needs of students.
- Prepare and collect materials needed by the teacher in presenting a unit of work.
- Work with individual students or small groups on activities that have been assigned by the teacher.
- Assist individual students as directed by the teacher.
- Supervise students during non-instructional times in the day, such as during the lunch period, when students are entering or leaving buses, while otherwise on school premises, and including duty before/during/after school.
- Complete recordkeeping tasks as assigned by the teacher.
- There are occasions where telework might increase district and student access to qualified employees, decrease absenteeism, be an appropriate accommodation for a disability or be a necessary alternative to closing district operations completely during an emergency.
- Other duties as assigned.

An individual who holds this position: Is frequently required to stand, stoop, bend and kneel. He/she may have to use therapeutic restraint and will regularly lift students. Must have both close and distance vision.
Salary: Commensurate based on experience
Contract Type: 9 months Non-exempt
This position will start for the 2024-2025 school year.
